Much encouraged by the healthy debate surrounding my “Why I hate Iai” post. I thought it worth throwing the subject out in the true spirit of democracy, that recent speakers at BKA meetings have assured us that people have “fought and died for” . So here is the chance for you to make your views known.
PS. If anyone can be arsed to fill this in, there may well be a follow up on the types of individual attracted by Iai and Kendo.

Hmmmm, has someone in the iai bu upset you, Geoff?
At the time of writing, 22:34 on 23/10/2009, watching paint dry is a clear leader with 30% of the vote. The combined votes for doing the splits over a blow lamp and poking out your eyes with sharpened pencils (14% and 16% respectively) total a further 30% with only 21% of people opting for “give it a try.”
I choose to interpret this as a vindication of my suggestion of alternative activities to compulsory Iaido.
I also find it intriguing that 60% of people who responded would choose an activity which is either cripplingly painful or terminally boring in preference to doing a bit of Iai. Now, I’m sure there’s a message in there somewhere, if only we could figure out what it is ………….
